Right on our doorstep, there are numerous opportunities to be active and explore nature. Take a tour along one of the many beautiful hiking or biking trails and stop by our guesthouse.
Hiking
The trail Löwenpfad "Steigen Tour" leads directly through our yard and is especially suitable for railway enthusiasts. The quality hiking trail is the second-longest Löwenpfad in the Göppingen district. A special highlight is the repeated views of the winding and steep railway line.
The Erlebnispfad (adventure trail) Geislinger Steige is a circular hiking trail equipped with information panels, allowing you to experience Geislingen's industrial history amidst the beautiful natural surroundings of this green Fünftälerstadt (five valleys town). The Ziegelhütte (brickworks), with its own information panel, is part of this exciting hiking tour along the paths of the Swabian structure of the century "Geislinger Steige" – once the steepest railway line in continental Europe and the first railway crossing of the Alb.
These two hiking trails also take you past the imposing Helfenstein Castle ruins and the medieval Ödenturm tower, both of which are worth a visit.
The Vögelestal (valley), located between Amstetten and Nellingen, also invites you to take long or short walks. Likewise the adjacent Ziegelwald. Or explore the Rohrachtal (valley) along with the Rohrachsee (lake), which lies in the largest nature reserve in the Stuttgart administrative district. The nature trail located in the Rohrachtal (valley) provides information on 9 panels about the characteristic habitats of the most important plant and animal species.
Cycling
Cyclists will also get their money's worth in the surrounding area. The Lonetalradweg (cycle track) leads along the river of the same name through the Lonetal (valley) to Giengen an der Brenz. This special valley is known as the cradle of art, as it was here that artistic illustration of humans and animals were first created in the caves over 30,000 years ago. Contrary to the tour recommendation, you can also start the tour in Gingen and end it with a well-deserved Radler (shandy, mixture of beer and lemonade) at our Ziegelhütte Inn.
The Landesfernradweg (state long-distance cycle route) Albtäler-Radweg (cycle track) offers active cyclists the opportunity to discover eight of the most beautiful valleys in the UNESCO Swabian Alb Geopark in three days. This special circular route starts in Amstetten!
